Captain Obvious Takes on Table Topics

From the District 48 Public Relations Manager

I hate to sound like Captain Obvious, but when we’re attending virtual meetings, it is all about the sights and sounds! That doesn’t have to be a bad thing. OK… we’ve all had our fair share of images we would like to unsee, but let’s not let that crush our creativity!

Carpe Diem! Take advantage of a golden opportunity to turn each meeting or open house into an augmented sensory experience no one wants to forget.

Here’s one way to amp up the visual experience for Table Topics.
Topic Selection

It spins!
It makes noise!
It can remove used entries!
Customizable!
It’s Free!

Where can you find it?

No, you don’t need Vanna White or Pat Sajak, but to take this experience over the top use a second wheel to select the speakers: Wheel of Speakers

The Recommended Setup
  • Make your Wheel of Topics on the Wheel of Names website.
  • Make your Wheel of Speakers on the Picker Wheel website.

There are a couple of technical reasons for this… and the bottom line is: In the long run it will be easier.

Customize your wheels before the next meeting. Each website will let you save your files. For the Wheel of Speakers I suggest you create a wheel with all of the names of your club members. That way when the meeting starts you can quickly do a live edit and remove anyone who is not in attendance and add the names of any guests.

When it comes to the Wheel of Topics, you can make wheels in advance. You can prepare themed wheels for all kinds of topics under the sun. Using images is also an option!

At the Meeting

To use the wheels during your meeting, open each wheel in separate browser tabs. When it comes time for Table Topics select screen sharing:

  1. Select the Browser Tab for the Topics Wheel
  2. Be sure to Click the option to Share Computer Sound!
  3. Start the screen share
  4. When it’s time to select a speaker simply Click on the Browser Tab for the Speakers Wheel
  5. Repeat the process for each Table Topics Question

Fun creates enthusiasm and energy.
