A story of professional growth as told by Nancy Gonzalez

I have discovered that it doesn’t matter how much you know, there’s always more to learn. My Toastmasters journey began two years ago. I had been speaking for several years and thought I could pick up some pointers in a few meetings and go on my merry way. Little did I know that Toastmasters was going to make such a huge impact on my life!

With the support and guidance of my amazing club, I learned that I still had a lot to learn about public speaking. I have discovered ways to deliver my message in an effective manner that will inspire my audience. I have learned how to give and receive evaluations. They are such a vital part of delivering a speech. Toastmasters taught me how to use the techniques given to me during evaluations. The feedback from my fellow “toasties” is important to me. I know that they share the same passion of public speaking, which is why their feedback is priceless.

Because of the confidence I’ve gained through Toastmasters. I have been able to grow my speaking business, Seeds of Encouragement. My keynote speech, “Be Better, Not Bitter,” inspires audiences with various ways to feel better, not bitter no matter what circumstances life brings.

I speak on podcasts, at conferences, summits, and corporate meetings. I am no longer self-conscious about how I sound or if my message is getting across.

Because of Pathways Effective Coaching, I have added a coaching element to my business. I am learning to be an effective coach while providing positivity. It is a win-win for both me and my clients!

Toastmasters has been an enormous blessing in my life. I love mentoring new members and teaching them how to use their Toastmasters skills outside of the club. To see a member blossom from a nervous speaker to one who is full of confidence is truly rewarding!

I never miss a meeting because I walk away each week having learned something new. Besides, it’s my weekly dose of laughter, fellowship, and self-development!
