A Special Pathways Resource

District News

By: Sean F. Forrester, DTM
Chief Pathways Guide, District 48

While scouring the internet for great resources on Pathways to include in our new Pathways Resources page, I came across worthy of being highlighted separately. Its author is Frank Storey, DTM, an active Toastmaster from District 18 and it is called Pathways Tutorial.

There are several reasons why this is a unique Pathways resource. First, there is a thorough tutorial, as the site name suggests. Storey helps his readers understand the basic concepts of Pathways paths, levels, projects and competencies through a series of clean, easily navigated pages.

Second, the author provides a number of materials that can be downloaded and printed, including a pocket guide to Pathways (great for new members and guests) and a number of handouts and charts that could become part of your club library to help members navigate through the Pathways Learning Experience more effectively.

Third, there is a sub-section on the site called Pathways Pointers, a periodic series of miscellaneous facts and ideas related to the Pathways educational program. At last count there are 47 pointers included, and many of them are quite interesting.

Finally, the overall website uses lots of visual cues, update stamps, a couple of different Q&A sub-sections, and a very extensive site map of all the pages Mr. Storey prepared. Overall, I think this is a wonderful Pathways resource.

If you are interested in exploring the Pathways Tutorial in more depth, you should definitely bookmarked this site. If you have specific questions or comments, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
